Heated Floors for the Twin Cities and Surrounding Minnesota Area

The Benefits of Radiant Heat

As residents in Minneapolis and St. Paul — and all of Northern America — are discovering, radiant heat offers a host of unique benefits. With the emphasis today on the environment and minimizing our carbon footprint, many consumers are finding radiant heat as an attractive alternative to traditional heating systems. But operating on renewable energy is only one of the attractive features surrounding radiant heat. There are several beneficial features of radiant heat.

Efficiency – Radiant heat is the most efficient heating technology today. Virtually all of the energy is translated directly to heat – so there’s no wasted energy. Given radiant heat’s efficiency and innate characteristics, heated floors can operate at a slightly lower temperature than forced air systems and yet still provide superior comfort. Radiant heat also offers precise control. Each room is controlled by its own thermostat, giving homeowners the control they need to warm certain rooms without wasting energy.

Discreet – Radiant heat systems operate discreetly. There is no need for bulky duct work and vents or radiators, and the systems operate silently.

Maintenance Free – Electric heated floors are maintenance free, so there’s no need to change filters and clean ducts.

Health Benefits – Traditional forced-air systems blow dust and allergens around the home. Since radiant heat does not use blowers, no dust is being circulated throughout the house, making a much more comfortable environment for those with allergies or respiratory issues.

Easy to Customize – Heated floor systems can be easily customized to suit your specific floor type, layout and heating needs. Warmzone® has a wide selection of floor heating systems, and our professional system designers are experienced professionals who can tailor the system to meet your needs.

Environmentally Friendly – Electric radiant heated floors provide a clean alternative for warming homes and businesses today.

Superior Warmth – Radiant floor heating systems provide rich, luxurious warmth. Unlike forced-air systems that blow warm air from vents that rises quickly before cooling, radiant heat warms from the floor up. This results in an especially cozy environment for small children who spend most of their time playing on or near the floor.

ComfortTile®: One of the most respected and versatile floor heating systems available, ComfortTile systems feature thin heat cable off the spool or pre-spaced in easy-to-install mats with an adhesive backing. The versatile heat cable can be used to warm a variety of floor types, but is especially ideal for heating tile, marble, and stone floors. The floor heating cables are UL/CSA approved and have a 25-year manufacturer warranty.

In-Slab radiant heat cable.

In-Slab™: In-Slab floor heating systems feature larger, more rugged heat cable designed for installation in concrete slabs. The heat cable is installed so that it is about 2 inches below the surface of the concrete, providing efficient warming of the slab. Given its price, performance, and efficiency, the heat cable is a proven and trusted choice for heating basement or ground floors. In-Slab floor heating cable carries a 10-year manufacturer warranty.

FilmHeat floor heating system for heating floating floors.

FilmHeat™: This unique system utilizes a paper thin heating element that is particularly effective for heating floating floors, such as laminate, wood, LVT, bamboo, etc. The heating element is only 0.016-inches thick, so it results in no floor buildup. It offers one of the best values for heating laminate and floating floors. FilmHeat heating panels are UL approved for safety, and the system carries a 25-year warranty.

In-Slab radiant heat cable.

Prodeso® Floor Heating Membrane: The Prodeso Floor Heating Membrane system utilizes a thin flexible membrane for heating floors without expansion joints in the screed. It is only ¼-inch thick and can be installed over the entire subfloor as an uncoupling, crack isolating, and waterproofing membrane. ComfortTile heat cable is routed through the pre-engineered channels of the membrane, resulting in quick installation and accurate cable spacing. After the heat cable is secured, the tile or stone can then be installed over the membrane. The Prodeso membrane is versatile and can be used for interior and exterior radiant heat applications.

RetroHeat floor heating system for heating existing floors.

RetroHeat®: The RetroHeat floor heating system is designed to give homeowners an affordable option for heating existing floors. The heating element features thin heating panels that are stapled up between the floor joists. Batt insulation is then installed over the heating element to direct all of the heat upward to warm the floor. To install the RetroHeat floor heating system, homeowners must be able to access the floor from below, either through a crawl space or basement. This system gives homeowners the option of enjoying radiant heat without having to conduct any major remodeling, and can be used to warm just about all types of floors. RetroHeat carries a generous 25-year warranty.
